Biography
I am a late comer to photography. I always enjoyed the medium (and art in general) just like a lot of people do: To capture memories to show family and friends from trips, celebrations, family gatherings, etc. I always tried to shoot a good image but rarely was truly happy with the results. You see? I was never formally trained...until nearly a decade ago when I decided to join my wife in a photo class at the local Community College.
That move sure changed my photography skills (I consider myself a lifelong learner, so I'm still going at it) and, to some extent, my life too. Photography gave me a different outlook on daily life: It became the creative outlet I was lacking, a nice break from the daily work hassles, and a way to meet and socialize with other artists, which I much appreciate. I truly love learning from their experiences, their approaches and techniques.
Some photographers specialize in a particular field and consider themselves landscape artists, or portrait photographers, or fine art creators, or... I, so far, have not settled (maybe never will) into a category. I sure like to explore and experiment throughout all those categories. I even have a hard time calling myself an artist yet... maybe "dude with a camera," "photographer in progress," or the like are a better moniker. But I most definitely enjoy the journey even if I never were to arrive.
I was born in Spain "just around the time when color TV became common place" and lived there for about 27 years. In the early 90s, I came to work/study in the US and I'm still living here, much to my mother's chagrin.
